The “Volkssturmgewehr” is an old late-war German Assault Rifle from World War 2. It utilized a special gas-delayed blowback system which allowed for semi-automatic fire. It was created in the “Primitiv-Waffen-Programm” to save important resources for the war and was build from already existing components. The weapon was able to chamber MP43/StG 44 magazines and used therefore 7.92x33mm munition.

This is a practice piece I worked on when following a ‘Sci-fi Weapon Tutorial’ by Michael Pavlovich. Most of the high res was done with Zbrush’s z-modeler tool. Retopology and UV-unwrapping done in Maya. Textured in Substance Painter with some Photoshop used to correct normal and ambient occlusion map artifacting 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 16406 polygons.
