Juma Mosque is situated in the center of the village of Kala Koreysh in Dagestan, Russia, next to the family cemetery of the Utsmis, feudal rulers of Kaitag. The mosque’s prayer hall is divided by rows of pillars into three naves. And the first aisle from the entrance is elevated in comparison with the other two by 50 centimeters - the relief slope is used. The prayer hall is slightly extended from west to east. Its dimensions are 12,2 by 10,2 meters, the thickness of the walls is about 50 centimeters. In the center of the hall there is a prayer niche - mihrab - that shows to the praying person the direction to the south, to Mecca.
The mosque is laid out of big and carefully processed blocks. The material is local stone - shell rock. The masonry is dry and the stones are very precisely fitted. The technique of stone processing is high. This Neoclassical Lion guards the front of the Baltimore Museum of Art along with its identical companion. Baltimore artist Charles Klutch (1871-1951) carved the sculptures from limestone similar to that used on the facade of the Museum in 1929. They were based on smaller plaster casts executed by Adolph A. Weinmen (American, 1870-1937). Weinman used as his prototype an ancient Roman sculpture that originally stood outside the Villa Medici in Rome, but is now located at the famed Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. Many people are familiar with the art installationin in the Helix Park, adjacent to the Falkirk Wheel - the large Kelpies - at 30 metres high, they are the world’s largest equine sculptures, created by Andy Scott in 2013.
What is less well known is that a mini version of these iconic sculptures, the pre production “maquettes”, some 10 feet high are currently in residence in Ardrishaig at the western end of the Crinnan Canal at the Ardrishaig waterway’s centre. They have been sited there at since 2019 having cantered down from their earlier site in Edinburgh.

This started as a personal passion project, to preserve a historical record of the famous Sedlec Ossuary bone church in digital form through photography and photogrammetry. It has turned into an epic journey of discovery and importance, working with the assistance of the Sedlec Ossuary Director, and the Sedlec Roman Catholic Parish of Kutná Hora. This will be the most physically and historically accurate representation of the ossuary ever created, from measurements, blueprints, photoscanning, and historic records.
The Sedlec Ossuary is located in the town of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic, which is a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. The ossuary was decorated with the bones of over 60,000 humans 150 years ago, in a stunning artistic display that isn’t replicated in any ossuary or catacomb in the world. The Sedlec Ossuary is also currently undergoing extensive, unprecedented renovations to help preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
