Bronze statue of most likely Zeus, scanned at the Museum of Classical Archaeology in Cambridge, UK. Based on a 67x12MP dataset shot on a 1/2.3" sensor in March 2017. Did you know? Over 3 years ago, when I uploaded this decimated raw scan, Sketchfab did not have any restrictions for texture size (or at least none I can remember). Consequently, when the new 8k texture limit kicked in, my singular model was automatically split into 4 chunks (judging by the current number of UVs), to accomodate the lower resolutions. This piece of stone column formed part of a Roman bathouse which was found as part of excavations by Oxford Archaeology North and the Wigan Archaeological Society in 2005.
This piece of column was made from a stone local to the Wigan area known as ganister, and had a hole carved in the base, and is believed to have been used as an oil lamp post excavation.
Currently on display at the Museum of Wigan Life.
