Third project in 3DS Max! As always I had a lot of fun making this project but this one seemed to take awhile to get a well structured lion head. Luckily I have a lot of great friends to help critique my work during the process and it always leads to something much stronger than I begin with, otherwise this lion may still be looking like an angry bullfrog. My friends also suggested I have a bit of a fixation on things with gems in their head. This is my attempt at modelling World of Warcraft’s Sulfuron Keep from the Firelands raid.
This model was created for a college project so any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
And just as a side note: I am aware that the underside of the model and the fact that the platform is poking out from the lava does look rather unusual, however the main reason for this is because I wasn’t originally planning to upload this scene as a physical model that could be viewed from any perspective, instead, once the model was completed, I intended to take a single, static render of the scene as if it were looking through the eyes of a player, and uploading that image to my Artstation account, meaning that I wasn’t really focussing on any of the areas of the model that wouldn’t be seen within the final render. Taharqa Gate Conservation
The Taharqa Gate is situated in what would have been the northern mudbrick enclosure wall of the Small Amun Temple at Medinet Habu.
In the aftermath of the destruction of the Temple Area and walls of Ramses III at Medinet Habu, the Ethiopian Kings of the 25th dynasty undertook reconstruction efforts, rebuilding a mudbrick wall encircling the small temple upon the foundations of a wall of the same dimensions erected by Hatshepsut.
With these massive mudbrick enclosure walls all but weathered away, the gate now appears as a free standing structure. However, the lack of surrounding mudbrick structural support it had when built, combined with 2000 years of erosion have left the gate in need of urgent attention.
