This model was created for a college project so any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
And just as a side note: I am aware that the underside of the model and the fact that the platform is poking out from the lava does look rather unusual, however the main reason for this is because I wasn’t originally planning to upload this scene as a physical model that could be viewed from any perspective, instead, once the model was completed, I intended to take a single, static render of the scene as if it were looking through the eyes of a player, and uploading that image to my Artstation account, meaning that I wasn’t really focussing on any of the areas of the model that wouldn’t be seen within the final render. This is my submission for the Airship games art jam. The theme is ‘Growth’, so I went in a bit of a different direction to most, and a direction that’s closer to home.
I’m hoping I’ve done the emotion justice here. I wanted to try and capture a sense of gentleness, of a single moment of growth that is simultaneously ground-breaking but also fragile and vulnerable - the eggshell softly cracking.

The main sculpt comes in at around 22k tris, all hand-retopologised, but using Bencz’ techniques involves duplicating the base sculpt a few times - hence the high tri count!
