This shall be a portal to hell, which was my first 3D Artwork. The Stones with the illuminating signs shall represent the seven mortal sins: Wrath, jealousy, pride, lust, greed, sloth and gluttony. I tried to get specific signs for each sin in the topology of the stones, which was rather bad. Now its clear I should have textured these signs on the rocks. That would have been much easier and the result has been better. In the inner space of the portal are tentacles, one for each sin. So the sinners will be grabbed by the specific tentacle and brutally thrown into the portal 3D Model is ready to download for free

This is an environmental model created for a fantastical game on an alien planet. The base model was created with hard surface tools in Maya. Once I had a base to work from, I exported the model as an .obj file, so I could then import it into ZBrush. ZBrush allowed me to produce a higher quality sculpt. This high-res sculpt was then exported as such. I then used some tools specific to ZBrush to produce a low-poly model. However, this model was not game-ready as it had a higher amount of polys and didn’t fit into the poly budget allotted. Maya was the next stop. Time to re-topo.
Finally, I used the high-res model produced in ZBrush to project fine details into the normal map for the low-poly re-topo created in Maya. What you see here is a sub-divided view of the final result that had 4,700 polys 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 56928 polygons.

Most of the portals I have seen are either stone or metal, so I wanted to create a stylised wooden, rustic Portal with some wood paint dye that has faded edges. Something that you may find in a medieval fantasy or the witcher.
I used blender to create the model and substance painter to texture it.
Most of the model is texture painted, aside from the painting that I stencilled around the base and there are some wood fibres that are procedurally generated. I created a particle system in blender and use a vertex force to get them to rotate. Blender doesn’t have a built in way to export animated particles, so I found a script online that I ran in Blender to convert the particle system to an animated mesh.
