The An-2 is a light multi-purpose single-engine biplane transport aircraft designed by the Soviet Antonov Design Bureau in 1946. It has smooth flight and reliable structure. It was put into production in 1947. The main production line was discontinued in 1991, with a total output of more than 18,000 aircraft. Its production period of nearly 45 years was once a Guinness World Record. China successfully copied it in 1957 and named it Y-5. When British Railways starting to withdraw their age old steam locomotives from regular use, some of them either ended up for scrap or find their way for further use like in the industries. London Transport has bought 13 of the withdrawn ex-GWR 57xx for their engineering and ballast trains, with the last three engines of this class remained in service until the early 1970s! Number 5775 (L.89) was withdrawn from LT in 1969 and sold to Keighley & Worth Valley Railway where she later starred in a film, The Railway Children (1970).
