I used a process of projection and UVs that results in no distortion at the poles or long vertical seam typical on most spherical objects. Turn out I didn’t use any of the maps from my high poly scultp, as I find it harder to match my texture painting to the original concept because my sculpt wasn’t good enough. All textures painted in 3D Coat and with a few finishing touches in Photoshop.
