This canal bridge dates from the late 18th Century and is made from ashlar. The bridge originally carried the drive from Armley House, Benjamin Gott's home, to Kirkstall Road and the mills in the valley below. Nowadays, it is used as a shortcut between Armley and Burley, and some parts of the bridge are falling into disrepair. One of a couple of coils of worn continuous track, from some variant of the US Sherman tank. The earliest continuous track was patented in 1846 as an aid for steam powered traction engines, and was used on gun carriages in the Crimean War. The propulsion system gained popularity at the turn of the century, particularly under the Caterpiller Tractor Company, and was swiftly adopted by armoured fighting vehicles alongside the invention of the tank in the First World War.
Based on photographs, I believe this section to be from a late model Sherman, possibly even the M-50 ‘Super’ Sherman variant used by Israel from the 1950’s. The split-section, steel exterior plates don’t seem to appear on earlier models or in European theatres, but let me know if you’re a tank nerd and I’ve got that wrong.
A great object to model. 209 images taken with a Huawei phone with Leica lens and attached polarising filter, processed in Metashape, Meshlab and Blender.

A gothic public water pump in the market town of Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. It was one of many installed in the 1860’s, though this is the last one left. It no longer works, and is just a decorative piece of street furniture now. It stands about 7 feet tall. A reminder that 19th Century England was not the blacks and greys we often see in photographs, but often as colourful and bright as high streets are today.

…the dramatic collapse and then clearance of an historic bridge in Worcestershire was the end to its history. But a UAV Photogrammetric survey preserved the detail befor a new bridge was built. The work was commissioned by Worcestershire County Council and the resulting data used by the structuaral engineers and contractors.
