I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas. The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code. Complete with 4K PBR textures. My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this. It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific. When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.

Model is rigged, there are two versions for rig, with and without ammo in the magazine. One with ammo in mag is… well, big, as ammo have some verts in it and also its separated to few parts so if you are not into animation of every case inside, you can just move mag fallower inside and remove one part so its look like ammo inside mag is actually moving(crude method, but few games do that with transparent mags). Of Course there is also non-transparent magazine and rig without ammo inside so use this if you dont want to flood game with ammo that is not even visible.
