This started as a personal passion project, to preserve a historical record of the famous Sedlec Ossuary bone church in digital form through photography and photogrammetry. It has turned into an epic journey of discovery and importance, working with the assistance of the Sedlec Ossuary Director, and the Sedlec Roman Catholic Parish of Kutná Hora. This will be the most physically and historically accurate representation of the ossuary ever created, from measurements, blueprints, photoscanning, and historic records.
The Sedlec Ossuary is located in the town of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic, which is a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. The ossuary was decorated with the bones of over 60,000 humans 150 years ago, in a stunning artistic display that isn’t replicated in any ossuary or catacomb in the world. The Sedlec Ossuary is also currently undergoing extensive, unprecedented renovations to help preserve it for future generations to enjoy.

This exquisite drinking cup for atol in the collection of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame (cat. # 1982.053) is adorned along the rim with jaguar prints on the inside and hieroglyphs on the outside. The previously unpublished inscription is one of the finest examples of seventh-century Maya caligraphy and contains rare variants of number 9 and TZ’AK. There are no personal names or place names. The text only states that the cup belonged to “the artisan of the eternal lord”. The orthography of the inscription is rather unusual: the scribe apparently tried to arrange the text so that it would consist of 20 characters in 11 segments (blocks) with an extra visual emphasis on the word “eternal (bolon tz’akbuul)”. Here is a photogrammetric scan (a 3D-scan made of ca. 150 photos) of a advertising pillar in the Swedish city Karlstad.
It was outside of Coffee House café, the patrons gave the weird looks when I was capturing the pillar but the object was too good not to photoscan.
Among the posters you see music poster from Danko Jones, religious evangalists, soviet communist symbols, and a lot more that tells about life in a fairly large Swedish city.
