  Beach Diorama 3D Model 2023-11-07
This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn't work at all with the scene. Instead I've kept it very basic and natural. I don't think it's super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it's not too bad ^^ - Beach Diorama - 3D model by Jodie Bavister (@jodiebavister) 3d model

Reupload, cause I added seagulls (very important) Made this floating island with a lighthouse in 5 days trying to be done by the end of the week. And I gotta say, this was a marathon. Were a lot of troubles with baking, making fine details. If I had more time I would probably did separate bakes, but not this time. So, about the model: it’s a handpainted lowpoly with baked map from a highpoly. Triangles count: 27,5K. I was going with anime style (Miyazaki movies) and for reference I used artworks of Jim Shore (“Benatrex - Shorelights”), you’ll notice the lighthouse that I recreated.
