Sculpted in Zbrush, textured in Substance Painter, everything else done in Blender; retopology, weight painting, rigging, posing, etc etc. Intentionally posed directly after Joanna Kobierska's splash screen, as the challenge is to recreate one in Blender and post it on Sketchfab! I did have to optimize it for this diorama, partly by toning down the sheer amount of feathers my render has. This little bird nursery was a project to further push my understanding and skills of the handpainted game art pipeline, from concept to having a finished model. In this case, I also wanted to explore how to blend different terrain textures into each other, and how to generate grass with a particle system instead of placing them all by hand like in my previous props. I’m happy it worked the way it did!
In order to get this on Sketchfab I even got some additional practice: Baking said ground textures onto the ground plane, and converting my grass particles into actual geometry. Merging those then ended up making my file twice the size - but “compressing” it brought it down again. Lots of mini-roadblocks, but here it is!

The Boeing Bird of Prey was a black project aircraft, intended to demonstrate stealth technology. It was developed by McDonnell Douglas and Boeing in the 1990s. The company provided $67 million of funding for the project it was a low-cost program compared to many other programs of similar scale. It developed technology and materials which would later be used on Boeing’s X-45 unmanned combat air vehicle. As an internal project, this aircraft was not given an X-plane designation. There are no public plans to make this a production aircraft. It is characterized as a technology demonstrator.
