Woda tłoczona była do niego z rurmusa metalową rurą zasilającą (1), a następnie prowadzona rurą (3) i rozprowadzana grawitacyjnie rurociągiem po obszarze Krakowskiego Przedmieścia i miasta w murach. Wieża istnieje do dnia dzisiejszego.
