VRCPrefabs is a VRChat development community focused mainly on creating + helping others create interactive experiences within social VR.
The original Prefabs logo itself was designed by BlueASIS, Tero and CyanLaser.
For this project, we had a narrow turnaround of 12 days to go from concept to final. VRChat needed to support first-generation Oculus Quest hardware (mobile hardware) in their New Years environment so we were given a very tight perf budget of 2,500 polys, a single material, and a 1024x1024 max res limit for any textures. We use our custom built and fully automated rig to capture the images generating the 3D Model. During the capture process the object is evenly lit to avoid any drop shadows. Cross-polarization method is used to get rid of specular lights. The object is also scanned from below to capture it from every side. Afterwards the scan is optimized with retopology work and uv-unwrapping to make it gameready.
