Petra is an Arabian city in the country of Jordan carved out of the sand-stone mountains in Wadi Araba. It was established over 2000 years ago and was the capital of the Nabataeans. The tombs and structures are now in danger of erosion due to earthquakes, floods and natural weathering and are thus in need of monitoring and documentation.
184 laser scans were captured for this site in 2013.
The laser scanning survey of Petra, completed by the Zamani Project, is part of the Siq Stability project, which is a “Funds In Trust” project of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for UNESCO. It is managed by the UNESCO Amman Office and has as main partners Italian geological experts from ISPRA (Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research - Geological Survey of Italy), as well as geologists and a surveyor from the Petra National Trust. The Baroness’ antechamber and bedroom, are both decorated and furnished in Gustavian style with some details of an older character Rococo style. So e.g. are the door tops from the middle of the 18th century, and the armchairs in the antechamber as well as the gilded console table between the windows are characterized by Rococo line play. The antechamber table is signed by Lars Nordin and the hammer piano by Pehr Lindholm, both in Stockholm.
In the bedchamber, the main object is a pull-out bed with curtains of printed linen fabric (reprint after original in Stockholm Castle). The bed is painted in a reddish-brown color, which apparently wants to give the illusion of mahogany. On the cloth-covered dressing table, which is a reconstruction with the guidance of contemporary, cans and bottles of paintings typical of the time, stand in front of a simple mirror from 1794.
