This project was probably one of the more complex models I've done. I first worked on the handle of the saber first since that's where all the detail resides. Throughout the modeling process, I would always forget to model a certain component after laying out UVs and textures, so I will have to go back and model it in. Treasure Planet is one of my favourite Disney films of all time and deserves more recognition. After watching the film again, I decided I’d make a 3D model of Jim’s Solar Board.
Originally I had wanted to animate it so that it folded down but after modelling and texturing, I just had to show it off.
