This sculpture of standing Buddha is located at swayambhunath temple in Kathmandu. Built in 15th century, placed at the front side of the hill, on the old route to the stupa. The word “swayambhu" in saskrit means self-manifestation meaning it was not made by human hands, but instead is naturally arisen, or generated by nature so people here believe the whole hill rose itself including most of the sculptures inside. Alkohiti is an ancient stone spout in the Lalitpur district of Nepal made at man-made depression. This 24/7 functioning spout was used to serve water to the surrounding area. There are about 389 stone spouts in the Kathmandu Valley, and the natural sources of 225 spouts have dried up in modern days. More than thousand years later, Alkohiti still remains functioning.
