Had fun sculpting and texturing this little stylized table with a few food items and a plant. I wanted to explore the use of stylized smart materials and practice handpainting meshes as well. The bread, apples, and soil are handpainted. I’m also very inspired nowadays by the vibrant world of Spyro Reignited Trilogy and I’m thinking making more such stylized assets :) As for the software, I used Maya, Zbrush and Substance Painter. So this is a little experiment I’ve been contemplating on, inspired by the food assets in Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 15.
I took photographs of an actual meal I cooked, and spliced them in Substance Painter with a few models I specially built from reference.
Nasi Lemak is a traditional Indonesian/Malaysian dish, consisting of spiced rice, coconut milk/shavings, a portion of meat (chicken) and fresh prawns, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg.
The hardest part was translating the lighting from Substance Painter to Unreal Engine, and I have recreated it as best as I can here in sketchfab.
