The sella, equivalent to our stool or footstool, or even a low chair, was the most common type of seat during the Roman period, probably because of the ease with which it could be carried from one place to another. Were used both by slaves and by the emperor himself, although those of the lower classes were surely much simpler, while wealthy people had access to precious woods. The folding chair (sella curulis) was an important sign of power in Roman times. There were seals with or without a backrest, which folded like scissors, like modern camping chairs, for easy portability. Over the course of the summer I made quite some 3D hand painted props for Ashleigh Warner’s CGMA course: Creating Stylized Game Assets.
This is the assignment for the first week, we had to create three cubes with all of them having an unique theme. The focus in this assignment was on creating a texture with two unique sides, focusing on painting.
The cube on the left is a stool, the one in the middle a crate with carrots and the one on the far right is just a ‘tech’ box.
