In this case, I used upcycled second-hand menswear suits to make womenswear. The deconstruction method provided interesting designs, shapes and silhouettes. The main inspiration came from my mood-board, which included different shapes and interesting details from existing suits that could be turned into new and irregular forms. THE SUSTAINABLE APPROACH The main purpose of this collection was to upcycle already existing garments and use as many parts and details from them as possible. The collection is questioning the way we see a “masculine man”. Is he covered in clothes, which makes him bigger, or is he showing his skin and flexing his muscles? The collection is inspired by the sporty outfits of modern basketball players merged together with the formal menswear look from the 1940’s. THE SUSTAINABLE APPROACH All the leather fabrics used in the collection are upcycled from 2nd assortment leather jackets. The cotton used in the collection is either Oeko-Tex or GOTS certified.
