The Huot Automatic Rifle is a Canadian light machine gun developed during World War I, based on the Ross Rifle, but using a gas-operated mechanism and a drum magazine to produce a portable select-fire light machine gun which would be cheaper to manufacture than the Lewis Gun. The Huot was developed from 1916 to 1918, undergoing many refinements during that time to increase reliability and reduce weight.
