Sci fi gun concepted by me. I’ve always loved the shape design of a p90 so I wanted to create a sci-fi looking gun using the same shape language. My little sister also love unicorns so when she saw I was stumped on my design she gave the idea of unicorn gun. I decided to run with the idea so I started concepting in maya using booleans. After a couple of designs I decided to go with this one. I modeled the gun in maya and then textured it using substance painter and photoshop. People really like this little guy so I cleaned it up and baked it to be more representative of the rendered and printed versions but in the real-time. This is still a concept model so I didn’t really go all the way making a low poly and really optimizing it but rather a version that can still be enjoyed through a viewer. I’d like to update it later to include a variety of screen expressions.

The project I’ve been working on based on concept art by the talented #arielperez.
I learned alot about the Production Pipline and different workflows while working on him. I also ran into a lot of thecnical issues (mainly baking, it’s always baking lol) while making this guy, and I worked through most of the hardware issues by googling, banging my head against the wall, and a ton of patience.
The model was mostly done in zbrush (high poly), retoplogized and uv unwrapped in maya(low poly), normals/Ao/Curve/Thickness maps baked in xnormal, textured in substance painter and finally rendered in marmoset toolbag.
