An improvement in nearly every way, boasting heavy armor and an advanced armament, the Bowbreaker was used commonly for planetary defense, hit-and-run attacks against Imperial Remnants, and leading escort missions. Upon the destruction of the New Republic home system, many of these vessels saw continued service in defense fleets organized by the scattered surviving senators and government figureheads. -Zespo

After the Galactic Civil War, the fledgling New Republic saw need for multi-role vessels that could be manufactured quickly and in number for defense, exploration, and response to any lingering Imperial Remnant threats. They looked to Kuat Drive Yards to create a vessel that improved upon the popular concept of the EF-76 Nebulon B. Thus the Responder-class Support Frigate was created, with heavy influence from Gallofree, having been absorbed by KDY. -Zespo
