Porta Sempione (“Simplon Gate”) is a city gate of Milan marked by a landmark triumphal arch called Arco della Pace (“Arch of Peace”), dating back to the 19th century, although its origins can be traced back to a gate of the Roman walls of Milan. The rider statue “Amazon on horseback” is on the Floraplatz in the Großer Tiergarten in Berlin-Tiergarten. It was created in bronze by the Berlin sculptor Louis Tuaillon in 1895, but was only installed in this location in 1906. On the Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte there is another copy of the “Amazon on Horseback” in front of the Old National Gallery and the New Museum.
