The Infinity wasn’t originally conceived as a warship. The original purpose of the ship was to be a mobile colony ship in case of societal collapse during the days of the Human-Covenant war, as part of Project OUROBOROS, but the end of the war found it unfinished, and was repurposed as a warship. In 2553 Engineers from Trevelyan began assisting in the construction of the vessel, allowing Forerunner shielding to be equipped. It was completed that year, with the vessel’s first deployment being to Sanghelios, where it fought Jul’Mdagio and his bunch.
After the ship’s completion, it was re-purposed as a peacetime vessel, searching for Forerunner installations. It was during this mission in 2557 that the ship took part in the First Battle of Requiem. This mysterious weapon is seemingly Forerunner of origin, though I dont know how its going to function yet. I hope to see it sometime in a reveal or gameplay in multiplayer/campaign of Infinite.
