This UAV has 4 rotors/motors but 3 ducts. For long distance forward flight I feel 3 ducts and four motors is the most low profile design, thus efficient. Two of the forward motors are used for forward flight, but all 3 for vertical take off and landing. 1 cowling at the rear contains 2 props and 2 motors creating contra rotational propeller movement. Ducted fans aren’t widely used although now technology is catching up and allows for the total thrust of these motors to be 43kg. The use of removable 6s Lithium Polymer battery pods on either side of the unit allows for the power required. The total weight snips just under 25kg which includes the 6kg payload....phew. The frame has to be made from Carbon Fibre not GRP due to weight restrictions. I took major inspiration from Kiriko(Overwatch) for this mask. A lot of parts on this mask are emissive, tried to make it look as cyberpunk as I could. the pink areas all have a carbon fibre texture because why not. The Japanese characters on the mask is actually from Kirikos ultimate voice line “Unleash the kitsune’s claws”. The ones on the kunai, I had no idea what to write but I found something that said “The weak are meat;The strong eat” it was kinda funny in a cool way so I used it. Most of the portals I have seen are either stone or metal, so I wanted to create a stylised wooden, rustic Portal with some wood paint dye that has faded edges. Something that you may find in a medieval fantasy or the witcher. I used blender to create the model and substance painter to texture it. Most of the model is texture painted, aside from the painting that I stencilled around the base and there are some wood fibres that are procedurally generated. I created a particle system in blender and use a vertex force to get them to rotate. Blender doesn’t have a built in way to export animated particles, so I found a script online that I ran in Blender to convert the particle system to an animated mesh.
