De portada plateresca es la fachada del Convento de Dominicas de Santa Catalina de Siena. La misma pertenece a finales del siglo XVI cuando Roma anunció su fundación oficial, ya que el edificio había sido adquirido y fundado “extraoficialmente” como convento años antes por Juana de Mendoza y Zuñiga. En su parte superior podemos todavía observar en el tímpano del arco restos de las pinturas con la imagen de Santo Domingo, que queda flanqueado por unas columnas de fuste estriado. En el tímpano antes mencionado se hallaba también la Cruz de Santo Domingo, que sería trasladada de lugar en el siglo XIX. In the mid-fifteenth century Fra Beato Angelico frescoed the Dominican Convent of San Marco where he used to live. The fresco of the Annunciation in the north corridor is set in a portico overlooking the garden of the Virgin. A very similar garden figures in another fresco of the convent depicting the apparition of Christ to Mary Magdalene who mistakes him for the gardener. A reference that underlies a long medieval tradition that linked the figure of Christ to the flower. Two years ago, after reading these thoughts on a book by Didi-Huberman we came up with the idea of creating our first 3D painting: one of our favourite media to tell the infinite stories hidden in art.
