Wooden canopic chest of Yuya from the Tomb of Yuya and Thuya (KV46), Valley of the Kings, Egypt. This wooden chest contained four alabaster canopic jars, each containing the mummified inner organs of Yuya. The chest is currently on display in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo.
Yuya and Thuya were the father and mother of Queen Tiye, the great royal wife of Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty. The tomb was discovered virtually intact in 1905 by James Quibell and Theodore M. Davis.
Created from 90 photographs (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.6.1 and Blender 3D 2.8. Blender was used to fix some minor aspects of the geometry and texturing caused by the lighting conditions in the museum. Canopic Chest of Tutankhamen in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. The main chest and lid is carved from alabaster. Each of the heads is a seperate carved piece and form “stoppers” for each of four internal, carved depressions. These depressions housed small inlaid gold coffinettes each of which contained a mummified packet each containing either the stomach, lungs, intenstines, or liver. The sledge is wood covered in gold leaf.
Created from 169 images (Canon EOS Rebel T5i) using Metashape 1.6.1 and Blender 3D 2.8. The gold covered wooden sledge was fixed/recreated in Blender as was the cavetto molding and lower portion of the lid. Further, the 4 metal staples each on the lid, chest, and sledge were all recreated in Blender. The front left human headed stopper was created by duplicating the rear right one in Blender.
