  Beach Diorama 3D Model 2026-06-23
This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn't work at all with the scene. Instead I've kept it very basic and natural. I don't think it's super realistic at all and if I had more time I would probably have devoted more of it to better texturing, but I think for a last-minute project it's not too bad ^^

A project of mine created to broaden my portfolio and to test out the creation of a full (even though limtied) stylized environment, as I personall really like the look of those :) It has brought a lot of challenges, a bit of struggle and got me to examine and explore lots of other artists’ pipelines in order to find solutions to my problems, but I am satisfied with the end result and am looking forward to create more stylized stuff in the future. Here is the result of a school project. It was necessary to make a 2D concept then reproduce it in 3D here is what that gave. All the modeling is done on Maya, the textures are done with Photoshop by hand.
