Izvjesno je tek da portret mlade djevojke potječe iz antičke Salone, pa se portret kolokvijalno nazivaa „Solinjanka“. Ovaj izniman portret pažljivo oblikovanih detalja, smatra se vrhunskim dosegom portretne umjetnosti s početka 3. stoljeća. A striking similarity with known depictions of Fulvia Plautila, the spouse of Caracalla, has been pointed out but one cannot be absolutely certain that this is indeed the portrait of the young princess. It is nonetheless certain that this young girl’s portrait was found in ancient Salona and it is thus often called “the Salonitan girl”.
