It was designed with the new cartridge to meet NATO requirements published in 1989, as these requirements call for a personal defense weapon (PDW) class firearm, with a greater ability to penetrate body armor than current weapons limited to conventional pistol cartridges. The MP7 went into production in 2001.

Low-Poly model of the well known H&K MP5, with collapsible stock, and metal components of three-point sling included. the MP5 is preferred by the SAS in this setup, as a technique known as “sling tension aiming” is often used in order to aim with a gas mask, which makes it difficult to use traditional stocks.
