It provides day and night, high-altitude (70,000 feet, 21,300 meters), all-weather intelligence gathering. Built in complete secrecy the original U-2A first flew in 1955. The U-2 remains in front-line service more than 60 years after its first flight. This is due primarily to its ability to change surveillance objectives on short notice, something that surveillance satellites cannot do. The Convair F2Y Sea Dart was an American seaplane fighter aircraft that rode on twin hydro-skis during takeoff and landing. It flew only as a prototype, and never entered mass production. It is the only seaplane to have exceeded the speed of sound.
It was created in the 1950s, to overcome the problems with supersonic planes taking off and landing on aircraft carriers. The program was canceled after a series of unsatisfactory results and a tragic accident on 4 November 1954, in which test pilot Charles E. Richbourg was killed when the Sea Dart he was piloting disintegrated in midair. It has stealth capabilities using special sharp edge design and hidden missile bay. 2 jet engines are allowing tp reach 2 Mach supercruise without afterburner. Additional third superscramjet engine allow to accelerate for limited time to 5,5 Mach what allows to efficiently escape any dangerous situation or intercept any enemy aircraft. Big wings gives stability up to 35 km height when flying through top stratosphere levels. Missile bay holds up to 8 guided air to air missiles or 2 nuclear air to ground warheads.
