Surface scan of the skull of a bear from the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee. Ursus arctos - Brown Bear. DUNUC 2030. Length= 43cm. Acquired by D'Arcy Thompson in Kamchatka, Siberia, during his Bering Sea expeditions of 1896-7. Scanned with an Artec Eva surface scanner. The resulting file is exported as an obj. and imported into Zbrush. The texture is captured during the scanning process and converted to Polypaint in Zbrush. 3D scan of a tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus), a lizard that lives on small islands off the coast of New Zealand. The tuatara has a strong, stocky body. The neck, back and tail bear a crest of long scales. The animals reach a total length of 65 to 75 cm and are crepuscular and nocturnal.
This specimen is Number 68 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 27 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
