A photo-realistic 3D model of a small beetle captured with Artec Micro in such detail that you almost expect the insect to start buzzing. Our scanning specialist needed 15 minutes to capture the beetle in three different positions: the first two in HD mode for acquiring texture information, and one more, with some self-evaporating scan covering the beetle, for bringing geometry reconstruction to perfection. Two sets of photographs were taken right after scanning the first two times, for further registration and photogrammetry in Artec Studio. The third scan helped create the mesh, onto which the photo texture was projected, using Artec Studio’s killer texturing algorithm. Go ahead and rotate the model to enjoy the vibrant turquoise, blue, and black, as well as every intricate body part of the beetle – you might start to wonder if it’s you or the beetle moving its claws, wings, and antennae.
