This tower has long since been abandoned by its former occupants and lies in ruin. I used the Warhammer 40k models Witchfate Tor and Dreadstone Blight as my main references for the design of the tower. I started this model in Maya, blocking in all the shapes. Then I moved to ZBrush and sculpted in detail. In hindsight, I wish I had made this a more modular blockout because I ran out of time sculpting each individual piece. After I had sculpted enough to finish baking my Game Res mesh I moved to texturing in Substance Painter. It took a bit of time to get my UV’s laid out well enough to have the resolution I wanted, and I ended up going from 1 texture set to 2 in order to achieve the level of detail I wanted. The second version of her that i built. This model represents the K-7 Space Station as seen on the Deep Space Nine episode “Trials, and Tribbleations”. Where FX Artist Greg Jien built an accurate to the original, but slightly more detailed version of the classic K-7 studio model. I wanted to replicate that version of the studio model as close as possible. Within a “reasonable” RTS gaming poly budget.
She also has the same sign in her hangar bay as the studio model that says “WELCOME TO K-7. NOW GO HOME!” In the other closed hangar bay there is a sign that reads “Romulan Ale Sold Here!”
