Over several assessments I have made and worked on some assets and wanted to display them, but felt that they were lacking just being on their own. Many of these assets were toy like, and I brainstormed different scenes I could fit them into. I decided on a child's room, and built some supporting assets to build the corner of a room. I challenged myself to complete it within a day, though I ended up using most of a second day as well. Overall it was a simple, fun scene, and a nice break from character work. Quite possibly my longest project. So long, in fact, that I had to squeeze two projects in between to rest my eyes. But the concept is so good that I wanted to do it justice and recreate it as faithfully as I could. The most challenging bit was the grass and I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to render it. In the end I used partially transparent planes with painted texture. It isn’t best suited for 3D inspection, the illusion quickly falls appart, but I learned a new technique that will help me in future projects.
