The L1A1 is a rifle that was produced in the commonwealth under license, with production patterns taken from FN and converted to imperial units and standards. This causes some incompatability between the two types of FAL rifles, and is also why FAL rifles are often referred to as either “inch pattern” or “metric pattern”.
