This is a simple low-poly model of the interior of a library, which I made during my time studying 3D animation at UW-Whitewater. This set was originally supposed to be used in an edutainment game of sorts made with Unity, which would explain both the arrow and the low polygon count and the simple textures (we didn’t know how big this was going to be, so we started small). We were thinking of a MYST-like first person adventure game where the player would explore a library alone to search for clues and solve puzzles. Michelangelo not only designed the Laurentian Reading Room, but also its furnishings (see Corpus 558, Casa Buonarroti) The books that comprised the Medici collection were originally housed in the cubbies under the desks. Until the 19th century, each book was chained to its location and organized by subject.
This model has been reconstructed by Victoria Valdes at The University of Virgina from photogrammetric scans taken by ZeuxisVR in summer 2021.
