This was a small part of a larger project I've been working on. I drew inspiration from the recently unveiled Mars rover concept vehicle Nasa created, and from the lunar rovers Gavin Rothery (artstation.com/gavrov) created for the movie Moon. Treasure Planet is one of my favourite Disney films of all time and deserves more recognition. After watching the film again, I decided I’d make a 3D model of Jim’s Solar Board.
Originally I had wanted to animate it so that it folded down but after modelling and texturing, I just had to show it off.
