In Mary and Xane’s world, Xane Corp. owns a restaurant chain named “Mary’s“. Mary enjoys drinking from these cups, most likely due to their cuteness or them having her face on them. The cups used by the restaurant are inspired by both McDonald’s and the old Wendy’s design, the latter very obvious when looking at the cup’s lid.
This is the new version of the cup, modelled using Blender v3.12, using SVG (vector) versions of the lid’s design layers to give the cute Mary’s logo design smoother edges that more accurately resemble its intended appearance, compared to the old model’s “low-resolution” 3D logo. This is the final version of my first 3D assignment for Howest DAE.
I had a lot of fun working on it, especially the texturing, as we were now allowed to use anything like substance painter, marmoset etc. Everything had to either be done in photoshop or maya and we could pretty much only use an albedo and some transparency. It was a challange to get the textures looking good without any roughness or normals, but I think I learned a lot from it.
