The portraits here date from the 16th to the 19th century. Walther and Wilhelmina inherited the portraits along with the family’s main seat, the medieval castle Schloss Hallwil in Switzerland. A.k.a. When life gives you eggs… Created in Blender and Gimp. The egg model is a simple elongated UV-sphere, cut in two through a boolean modifier using a subdivided plane, which vertices have been randomized. The egg white was simulated with fluids physics, before being manually sculpted to correct artifacts and smoothen it. The yolk was added manually later. Hi there everybody, i did this piece back in september and i had finally the time to finish it. The scan was done with 75 photos taken at the Getty Villa, using an iPhone SE. Photos processed in Agisoft Metashape. Texture delit using Agisoft Delighter, which unfortunately caused some of the polychromy to be lost. Decimated in Blender, maps baked in marmoset. Minor touch ups, including adding back some AO and making a roughness map, was done in Substance Painter. Vincent Van Gogh, based on a self-portrait, and textured using his painting technique. This is my first ‘organic’ ever so it was a steep learning curve, currently I’ve been using Blender for 4 months and it’s my first time with 3D software. I’ve purposefully made one ear uneven as Vincent had cut off his ear with a razor blade towards the end of his life. I found a doctor’s note which details how his ear looked so it’s as accurate as I can get it. It’s slightly surreal to experience this portrait in 3D and get a real life-like sense of the man beyond just a single pose.
