I came across this amazing hand-painted house by Antonio Neves: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/low-poly-house I need to practice making World of Warcraft environment models, (wanna work for Blizzard so bad!), so I had to take a stab at making this house myself! My goal was to gain experience with this fast workflow. I actually threw down a bit of paint in blender while very roughly blocking in and UVing the house, to get me an idea of what I could get away with tiling. Then I opened the simple texture in Ps to arrange the islands and actually paint it nicely. Back to blender, re-alligned the UV islands, then created a second set of UVs, and baked a couple maps for light mapping. Mixed those in Ps, and figured out how to get UV sets into Sketchfab. Done! I think I finished this in only 9 hours! Fast for me! Stoked to get experience doing things for quick flat models. At the exact same time i started working on this model, the challenge went live, so it was the occasion to participate. I don’t know if it’s okay since i didn’t create the original character to begin with, but the overall redesign, posing and sculpting is mine, so i’m trying anyway ! I used Zbrush and maya for the sculpt/modeling part and substance painter for the baking. I also wanted too stay light on the details to keep the stylized design intact and not fall into hyperrealism. I’m working on a full textured version wich should be live in a couple of days. One of a couple of coils of worn continuous track, from some variant of the US Sherman tank. The earliest continuous track was patented in 1846 as an aid for steam powered traction engines, and was used on gun carriages in the Crimean War. The propulsion system gained popularity at the turn of the century, particularly under the Caterpiller Tractor Company, and was swiftly adopted by armoured fighting vehicles alongside the invention of the tank in the First World War. Based on photographs, I believe this section to be from a late model Sherman, possibly even the M-50 ‘Super’ Sherman variant used by Israel from the 1950’s. The split-section, steel exterior plates don’t seem to appear on earlier models or in European theatres, but let me know if you’re a tank nerd and I’ve got that wrong. After Soviet Union collapse in 1991 this airfield has been closed, lots of aircraft stood there under open and guarded by few militaries. In 2013 all guards gone, and locals starts to disassemble aircraft. Now, there only fuselages left, a couple of helicopters remains one engine. Lots of L29 airplanes, An-2, Mi-2 helicopters. This place nowadays becomes some kind of museum. Hundreds of people visits it on holidays. I took around 2000 photos of helicopter, 1867 was good. Nikon d5300, 18-55mm@18mm kit, 1/160 s, f/8, ISO-125. It appears, that lots of photos are blurred, so I deleted them, but I still unsatisfied with remaining photos.
