This is a very “quick’n’dirty” test I decided to finally upload as a first entry to the #AgisoftClothesChallenge . It’s not great, it’s not that bad either… This jacket is a replica of the black paneled uniform worn by military members of the Atlantis expedition in the Sci-Fi show Stargate Atlantis, and this specific version, made of ripstop fabric, is worn by John Sheppard during seasons 2 and 3 of the show. This is my personal studying project called “Martian Colony”. Textured in 3D-Coat, most of the props have 1k textures. My colony has some living blocks, the laboratory, gates to the mine with some crystals, and the mining vehicle full of them. And in the center of the scene, I placed the obelisk, which initially attracted the attention of researchers. Sometimes I want to make some extra-polishing, but it’s time to finish and move ahead. Xiongnu-inspired Hunnic belt buckles for my project: The Legend of Oghuz Khan. The wolves on each buckle are shaped like clouds, symbolizing Oghuz’s sovereignty over the earth. In Hunnic and Turkic culture, the left or East is considered the superior cardinal direction; hence, a prince associated with the East would often be designated as heir to the khanate. As such, the horse, symbolizing the nomad, is placed on the East in contrast to the dragon that represents the Han, or non-bow wielding peoples. Nonetheless, both the horse and the dragon are shown to be powerless against the wolves that represent Hunnic superiority. Stylistically, the buckles emulate the classic look of Xiongnu and Hunnic jewelry: gold, granulated, with carnelians/agate stones, and cloud and predatory based motiffs. The belt is still a work in progress. The symbolic descriptions are not meant to be offensive. This is a diorama created from one of Jenny Brozek’s concepts ‘The Gate’ found on Artstation. I really loved the concept when I saw it and was desperate to make it in 3D. It was a really nice project to sink time and effort into and I learnt a lot throughout the process. I created the model in Maya, Textured in Substance Painter to get the basic textures and colours down before taking the maps into Photoshop to start the painting process. They were essentially guardian spirit and were sometime represented as giant hybrid Lion and human figure, and sometime under an another form. I tried some diverse textured aspect here (all are in Pbr 4K)… With some contraint in sculpt, I had to make the details of the wings by textures tricks and not by sculpting in the mesh.
