This is a work in progress of a personal project i have been working on. Ever since working on our previous project Aurora, i’ve always been thinking of ways to integrate interesting and powerful scultptures into the environment that will dwarf the player in awe. This was a piece i couldn’t get out of my mind the most though.
I wanted to explore how an ancient civiliasation would visulaize the journey of a soul from the mortal plane to the after life. Taking themes from Michalangelos ‘Creation of Adam’, the piece represents the connection between Human and God. travelling from one domain to another represented through a staircase running up both beings hands. A model I made for my thesis project.
This is the main character, a norse folk who got murdered by christian crusaders, but the Gods gave him a second chance to take revenge from them!
This is the nearly end result of a workflow I went almost alone. From reference material research, rising up some sketchy concepts, to a rich story reflecting design. The 3D model came from an endless iteration witch alowed me to go back and forth until what you see now.
Backing and textures are full of errors, even UV maps are partially opened. But Im not working on it for now, so decided to share it as it is.

As soon I saw this concept, I decided to implement it in 3D, I just needed a reason to work closely with the Hurd surface in ZBrush and get the most out of the automatic retopology. It seemed corny to me to make another combat mech, so I decided to turn to aerospace and NASA.
