1858/1859 erhielt Ernst Rietschel den Auftrag, ein Reformations-Denkmal für die Stadt Worms zu entwerfen. Die Lutherstatue im Zentrum des Monuments wurde vielfach kopiert und diente als Vorbild für zahlreiche Lutherdenkmäler in Mitteleuropa und Nordamerika.

1858/1859 Ernst Rietschel was commissioned to design a Reformation memorial for the city of Worms. The Luther statue in the center of the monument has been copied many times and served as a model for numerous Luther monuments in Central Europe and North America.
