Photogrammetry Scan of an original specimen from Fossilogic (casting rights holder), in Pleasant Grove Utah.
Scanned using a Nikon D850 with a 35mm prime and an Xrite color chart.
Images were processed using Adobe Lightroom and calibrated to the color chart in ADOBE RGB colorspace.
Scan was completed in Epic Games Reality Capture.
Scan geometry was processed in Autodesk 3ds Max using the retopology modifier to get to an accurate polycount to be subdivided to as close to 100millon polys as possible.
Max was also used to unwrap into UVW layouts.
The resulting retopoed and UVw’d geo was re-imported into reality capture and base color info was reprojected.
The resulting geometry was imported into Maxon Zbrush for clean-up and minor restoration.
Mesh Maps were baked in Marmoset Toolbag 4.
Those maps and the maps from the reality capture were imported into Adobe Substance Painter for the creation of PBR texture sets for Sketchfab, Unity/URP, and Unreal 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 382952 polygons.
