This is a small prop for urban sci-fi scenes. I came up with the idea as a science fiction version of a modern paper newspaper vending machine. Although newspapers vending machines have been being phased out for some time due to the transition to the internet… I thought this concept would work well as something to fill in an urban environment.
The rack was modeled in blender and textured in substance painter. The screen animation uses 16 planes for each frame, cycled through using shape-keys. The screen animation graphics were created within blender using keyframe animation, the principled BDSF shader, and the compositor 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 820 polygons.

The city of Paris called Matali Crasset to change the design of all the newspaper kiosks. The former ones have been manly destroyed, but that one found a new life in Paris’ suburbs. His owner, Mr Gras, a sweet tooth, decided to sell his own meringues in this peculiar stand. Unfortunately, his business went bankrupt as this kind of sweet treats doesn’t sell well in the area. The former newsstand gets abandoned once again.
