In 1967, the Kamov Design Bureau proposed a project for the Ka-35D transport rotorcraft, intended to work in tandem with the An-12D aircraft. With a takeoff weight of 71.500 kg, it could carry up to 11 tons of cargo for a distance of up to 700 km (maximum - 800 km) with a cruising speed of up to 500 km / h. Its carrying capacity reached 20 tons, and the maximum design speed was 500-550 km / h. On the Ka-35D, two turbojet engines were used with a rotor drive with overlapping disks of rotating blades. When British Railways starting to withdraw their age old steam locomotives from regular use, some of them either ended up for scrap or find their way for further use like in the industries. London Transport has bought 13 of the withdrawn ex-GWR 57xx for their engineering and ballast trains, with the last three engines of this class remained in service until the early 1970s!
Number 5775 (L.89) was withdrawn from LT in 1969 and sold to Keighley & Worth Valley Railway where she later starred in a film, The Railway Children (1970).
