Pasargadae (from Old Persian Pāθra-gadā, “protective club" or “strong club";[1][2] Modern Persian: پاسارگاد Pāsārgād) was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire under Cyrus the Great (559–530 BCE), who ordered its construction and the location of his tomb. Today it is an archaeological site and one of Iran's UNESCO World Heritage Sites,[3] about 90 kilometres (56 mi) to the northeast of the modern city of Shiraz. I made this model in 2016, to practice modeling shapes and creating procedural materials. It was decent work at the time, but I revisited it in 2022 to give it a proper mesh/material cleanup and see how much I could improve it. This is the result!
Some of it could definitely still take a little more attention, but overall I’m happy with where it ended up. It’s a cool ode to the infamous Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros.
